Kids to get on their marks for triathlon

The Kiwanis Kids Triathlon will be held tomorrow, July 28, at the South Montgomery County YMCA at Branch Crossing in ‘The Woodlands’, located a short hop from Spring, Texas. Registration for this event begins at 5:45 am with racers to be lined up at their holding area by 7:20 am and the race to start ten minutes later.

This exciting race is open to children born between the years 2000 and 2005, although children born 2003 to 2005 have a 50-meter swim, a mile-long bike run, and a quarter-mile run. For children born between 2000 and 2002, each section will be twice as long. All athletes will be given a medal for finishing the triathlon, as well as a T-shirt and other prizes. Within each group, the top three male and female participants will receive trophies, with all presentations taking place after the race.

Participants will receive instructions, chip-timing devices, and race numbers one hour before the race begins. This triathlon is sanctioned by the USA Triathlon and all racers must be members. Membership cost $15 and can be purchased online or at registration. This is the 15th year of this annual event and each year the number of participants grows.

Poster printing and flyer printing may have been used to advertise this event to children and families in the Woodlands region. The cost to register for this event is $25 before the race day and $30 on the day. All children must have helmets and shoes to compete.
