San Japan returns to San Antonio

San Japan is an anime convention based in San Antonio, Texas which was started in 2005 by a group of people that shared a passion for anime, manga, and other elements of Japanese pop-culture. It returns to the city this August for “San Japan: Mach 5.”
Anime, a form of Japanese animation, has been growing in popularity since the 1980s and has accumulated such a large-scale fan-base that often, conventions are formed to commemorate and appreciate different Japanese art forms and new innovations in the Japanese animation industry. San Japan is one of the many but is altogether unique in itself.
The three-day convention will host guest panels for fans to ask questions and discuss topics with their favored guests. Keep a look out for the sheer number of cosplayers (people that dress up as their favorite anime or video game character) who are sure to flood the main convention floor.
Printing companies will doubtless be hard at work to ensure that the latest manga is out and ready to be stocked for the dealer’s room. Poster printing is also expected to be on the rise as posters pertaining to different anime and manga characters will be a popular buy during the entirety of the convention.
San Japan: Mach 5 is scheduled to take place on August 10 – 12 at both the HBG Convention Center and the S.A. Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. The varying ticket prices for three-day or certain single-day tickets can be found at www.san-japan.org.
