Holt Cat to expand its San Antonio HQ
August 31, 2013 by Mark
Holt Cat, a Caterpillar dealer, is planning to put millions into its operations state-wide, with $10m of that amount earmarked to expand its headquarters in San Antonio, it has recently been revealed.
Holt Cat is making improvements in response to the improving economy in general, and to a recent boom in Eagle Ford Shale. The company sells, rents, and fixes heavy equipment in counties throughout Texas. In San Antonio, it will replace an outmoded shop first built in 1957 with a new 47,000 SF shop. The new facility will feature 16 ‘super bays’, each of which can hold 32-40 machines, a fact that expands the company’s ability to service equipment by 40%. In addition, the new building is air-conditioned.
This last feature is likely to be extremely important to Holt, as it looks for qualified workers to hire. In Texas’s heat, air-conditioning is an important benefit, and Holt is competing with the oil and gas industries, which is also hiring. At the moment, Holt has approximately 90 jobs shown as open on its website. This includes not only the staff of the new building, but other positions in facilities across the state. Construction of the San Antonio shop should be finished at some point in the late spring or early summer of 2014.
Holt Cat is going to create an entirely new facility, so it could partner with a business card printing expert to create cards for its new employees. Not only will employees need the cards, but giving them to new hires will begin a positive relationship with them.
