Mansfield gets rockin this July

June 10, 2017 by

The three “r’s” rockets, recreation and rock-n- roll will be what Mansfield’s annual Independence Day celebration will be all about. The event will be free.

The site will feature many family activities. Live music will entertain the crowd until the fireworks start. Plenty of food and beverage vendors will be on hand selling their summer treats.

Local kids will start their celebrating a day earlier when they participate in the Red, White & Rockin Kids’ Triathlon. Juniors, those children from 6 years old until 10, will begin with a 130-meter swim in Lazy River at Hawaiian Falls. This will be followed by a half-mile race and a three-mile bike ride.

The seniors ages 11 to 15 will compete in a 200 meters swim, a one-mile run at the Big Dreams baseball center and a 6.2-mile bike ride. When kids register they get free all-day access to Hawaiian Falls Water Park, finisher medals, custom tech shirts and prizes.

Free parking will be available in Mansfield ISD’s Newsom Stadium, and a free shuttle will take everyone to the park.

Residents will want to mark their calendars because The Rockin’ 4th of July will be Monday, July 3rd at Big league Dreams Mansfield Sports Park, 500 Heritage Parkway, Mansfield.

The Red, White & Rockin’ Kids’ Triathlon will be July 2nd at Big League Dreams Ballpark and start at 7:30 am at Hawaiian Falls Water Park, 490 Heritage Parkway South, Mansfield.
