Mansfield celebrates Earth Day for first time

April 27, 2017 by

Mansfield Water Utilities and Keep Mansfield Beautiful will be holding their first Earth Day Mansfield. This event will be an educational festival.

Some activities will be a Children’s Area loaded with lots of interactive activities for the little ones. There will be a Kids’ Fishing Tournament, music, and Adult Education Speakers. Dancers will be performing, and vendors will be selling natural products in their area. Food and beverages will be available at the food trucks.

The H2Grow educational area will be presenting speakers who will be talking about Texas SmartScape’s seven steps to yard management. Topics will include information on fertilizers, pesticides, and water usage. The Water360 program will be a Q&A with the Environmental Manager and the Director of Water Utilities on issues such as local drinking water and treatment.

Organizations, local businesses and local creative people are busy painting Rain Barrels for the Silent Auction. They can still collect up to three barrels at the Chris WL Burkett Service Center. KMBC is furnishing up to $25 worth of basic painting supplies. Winners get bragging rights and may want to have pictures taken for later poster printing.

The event is slated for this Saturday, April 29 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Chris W. Burkett Service Center, 620 S. Wisteria. With everyone’s help, this event can become a fixture on the Mansfield calendar for many years to come.
