Lewisville Spring Clean Up draws near

April 8, 2013 by

Taking the concept of spring cleaning and applying it on a city-wide scale is the goal of Lewisville’s 27th annual Spring Clean Up, on its way in a couple of weeks.

Prospective volunteers are invited to inquire at the Keep Lewisville Beautiful website, which has options for online or PDF registration forms and release forms. Motivated individuals can also download a PDF file with event and sponsor information to do their own flyer printing, or get a local printing company to help them.

The Spring Clean Up is organized by local non-profit Keep Lewisville Beautiful, founded in 1986 and accepted into Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful in 1988. Funded by local grants and community donations, Keep Lewisville Beautiful organizes year-round cleanup and recycling activities, including tree plantings on Arbor Day, a Yard of the Month contest, and a Christmas tree recycling service.

Spring Clean Up is scheduled to coincide with state- and nationwide cleanup events, such as the Texas Trash Off and Great American Clean Up. Volunteers are invited to come to the Lewisville Residential Convenience Center, 330 W. Jones Street, at 8:00 am on April 20 for registration. They will be split into groups and given responsibility for a previously selected ‘special attention’ area. The cleanup itself will occupy the next two hours, with a free lunch following at 11.

Volunteers will additionally receive goody bags, free drinks, and eligibility for door prizes. Awards will be distributed for a variety of categories, such as strangest trash found and biggest trash collection.
