Humble community celebrates Constitution Day
September 13, 2013 by Max
The community of Humble will be rolling out the stars and stripes for the fourth annual Constitution Day celebration.
The lesser-known holiday honors the writing and signing of the United States Constitution. It was made an official national holiday back in 2004, and public educational institutions are required to provide their students with programming related to the American Constitution on the day. Humble takes the holiday up to the next level with its annual celebration.
This year’s event, hosted by a local car care center, will feature festival foods, live entertainment, and fun for the whole family. The party will kick off at 2:00 pm on September 17 with an opening ceremony featuring a rousing performance of the Star Spangled Banner performed by Wendy Taylor, a local performer and former contestant on ‘American Idol’. More musical acts will follow for the duration of the three-hour event.
Attendees can also expect to see a formal flag ceremony performed by the Atascocita High School ROTC. A variety of fun foods will be available, including hot dogs, snow cones, and other fair foods. For the kids, there will be an inflatable bounce house, a Space Shuttle Moonwalk, and a mobile video game center. The event will run from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at 1919 FM 1960 Bypass East in Humble.
Events like the Constitution Day celebration are a great way to bring a community together, and a little bit of publicity can do a great deal to spread the word. A quick stop at a local print company can supply all flyers, signs, and promotional materials an event organizer needs to promote local events.
