Singing elves visit Houston this Christmas

There will be Christmas merriment under the stars in Houston this holiday season. Starting a month today, Theatre Under the Stars will be staging performances of ‘Elf – The Musical’ for families looking for tuneful fun.

The family-friendly musical comedy is a live adaptation of the Hollywood film ‘Elf’, starring Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel, and James Caan. In the film, a human named Buddy is raised by elves in Santa’s workshop at the North Pole. Once he reaches adulthood, he leaves the North Pole to find his human family, and hilarious hijinks soon ensue.

Finding himself in the strange, somewhat scary city of New York, he cannot help but get a little lost and inspire a lot of Christmas cheer. In the end, he is called upon to save the whole holiday. The stage musical adds even more fun, with song and dance numbers sure to delight the audience.

“Elf – The Musical” will be presented at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts from December 6 to December 22. There will be performances every night of the week except Mondays, as well as additional matinee performances on weekend afternoons. More information is available on the Theatre Under the Stars website.

A community theater event like this usually needs strong promotion to bring in the audience it seeks. A local printing company is therefore a wonderful resource for marketing to the community. Flyers, brochures, and posters are easy to create and great resources for building a buzz.
