Greenville presents Annual Downtown Christmas Parade
November 3, 2012 by Sarah
On Friday, December 7, the Annual Downtown Christmas Parade will take place in Greenville beginning at 7:00 pm.
The theme for the floats and decorations this year is ‘A Storybook Christmas’. Applications to participate in the event are currently being accepted through the City of Greenville Main Street Office.
All floats are required to be decorated in holiday design and lighting, and no live Santas will be allowed. Animals may be included in the parade and will be featured at the end of it, beginning in a designated staging area. To ensure safety for everyone, no candy or other objects may be thrown from the floats.
Judging will begin at 5:30 pm, and the winning float will receive the Grand Marshal Award whilst second place will receive the Mayor Award. A plaque will be awarded for Parade Theme representing the best overall depiction of the theme. A Spirit of Christmas Award for the best Christmas or holiday spirit display will also be given. Automobile awards will be available as well.
Local printing companies are frequently contacted to supply marketing materials for parades and events of this type. Banner printing is commonly used for promoting parades to highlight each participant in the parade. Banners are highly visible and they can either be carried by two people or hung from a float to attract attention easily.
Registration for float entries is open until December 4, 2012. The City of Greenville Main Street Office has a website offering online registration. For more information, contact (903) 457-3138.
