Freaky 5 and Movie in the Park soon to haunt Greenville

September 11, 2012 by

Residents and visitors of Greenville will have the opportunity to put on their best costumes and join the fun just prior to this Halloween.

The Freaky 5K, featuring the Jaguar Timing System, will take place at the Greenville Sports Park located at 3601 Leo Hackney Boulevard. Several event sponsors are lined up already.

A Movie in the Park event, showing ‘Puss in Boots’, will begin after the run and is free to view. Registration has begun and will be in effect until October 7. A T-shirt and food provided by Subway will be included in the paid registrations.

Awards will be handed out at 7:00 pm and include $500’s worth of cash prizes. For competitors age 13 and over, there will be three winners with prizes of $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place. The top 3 winners of children under age 12 will receive gift cards.

To be eligible to participate in the costume contest, entrants must participate in the Freaky 5K and also must wear a Jaguar Bib-chip. All eligible winners must run the entire course and cross the finish line.

The event will begin at 4:00 pm on October 20 and many organizers for running events like this one work with local printing companies for production of such print projects as flyer and poster printing. Flyers could be easily distributed throughout the city and nearby regions to encourage participation and attendance, while posters could be strategically placed to draw attention quickly.
