Lake Austin Boulevard RunTex to close
July 31, 2012 by Mark
The RunTex store on Lake Austin Boulevard is set to close its doors, according to Paul Carrozza, the shop’s owner.
However, Carrozza confirmed that the main RunTex center, on 422 W. Riverside Drive, as well as the centers in Georgetown and Northwest Austin, will keep their doors open to the public. He emphasized that no changes will be made to the store on Riverside Drive, which is the headquarters of the company.
The Lake Austin Boulevard space was leased monthly by Carrozza. The room had served as studio space for company CrossFit Central ATX, which moved to the area recently in partnership with 5 Fitness.
Although RunTex will move from the space in Lake Austin, Carozza has confirmed that he will still utilize the billboard that he currently uses to publicise local running events. The billboard is on top of the Lake Austin Boulevard building.
Visibility based advertising is popular with retailers wishing to let a community know of an upcoming sale. Banner printing in Georgetown , as well as in Austin, is used by retailers to produce professional quality banners. Posters are another heavily visual advertising medium.
A new location of the RunTex store is set to be announced by Carrozza in due course.
In 1988, Carrozza purchased the location for the first RunTex shop. What started out as a small running store near Lamar Boulevard developed over the years. RunTex stores have since opened and closed in a number of locations, including Gateway shopping center in Northwest Austin, Central Market shopping center on North Lamar Boulevard, as well as Round Rock’s La Frontera shopping center.
RunTex sponsors a number of events, including local running races.
