Georgetown shoppers go off to the races

April 29, 2017 by

Residents in Georgetown are eagerly awaiting Talk Derby to Me. The Kentucky Derby themed event offers shopping, music, entertainment, and more.

The evening is being billed as a one-stop event for shopping, fun, and a little bit of wining and dining. Participants will start off by getting a wristband and a small goody bag with some promotional products, coupons, and a map. The wristband will allow them access to special areas set up in stores all over downtown Georgetown, including the Georgetown Winery, Gumbo’s North, and the Downtown Georgetown Association.

These hospitality stations will offer special drinks like mint juleps and bourbon balls, special snacks, and hors d’oeuvres. The town square itself will be filled with live music, performed by smooth jazz musician Mike Hamilton.

Additionally, the east side of the courthouse will feature a fashion show, with locally available styles being modelled by locals. Also many of the stores will have special Derby Day promotions and specialty products. Specialty vendors will also set up around the town square for the event, selling, crafts, flowers, fudge, and other items.

Talk Derby to Me will be held on May 4 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at locations around downtown Georgetown. Wristbands cost $20 each and are available for preorder. Anyone looking for more information should visit the website.
