Georgetown gets cooking at auction

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce is putting the finishing touches on its biggest fundraiser of the year.

The 34th Annual Bar-Bid-Cue Auction is an auction and concert with a hearty helping of smoked meat on the side, and will take place in just a couple of weeks.

The money raised from the auction is used to keep membership fees in the Chamber of Commerce down, as well as to keep the admission price of Chamber events low or free. As such, a number of interesting items have been donated by local businesses in the Georgetown area, including dry cleaning for a year, a spa package, and various gift baskets.

The auctions come in two types: silent and live. The live auction also features some useful items for local entrepreneurs, including marketing services and ad development by Bluebonnet Visual Branding.

The barbecue served at the event will include brisket, turkey, a baked potato, rolls, a vegetable medley, and a salad. A cheesecake will be served for dessert. The admission price includes beer and wine with dinner, though other alcoholic beverages must be purchased. During the dinner, live music arranged by Dolores Hill of Embrace Your Journey will be performed.

The 34th Annual Bar-Bid-Cue Auction will take place on July 29 from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Reunion Ranch, located at 850 CR 255. Tickets cost $35 per person, or a VIP table of eight can be purchased for $350. Cash or credit cards will be accepted when paying for auction items. A complete list of items up for auction and other info is available on the website.
