Georgetown all set to host 2013 Red Poppy Festival
April 16, 2013 by Sarah
In about 10 days, the Red Poppy Festival will kick off its three-day event in Georgetown. The annual family-friendly festival offers many activities and attractions including concerts, a car show, basketball, a parade, and the Red Poppy bike ride.
Vendor exhibits will be a major attraction at the festival offering arts, crafts, artwork, festive foods, jewelry, leather, and a variety of unique and interesting items. Vendors typically work with local printing companies in ordering materials needed for shows and festivals.
Exhibitors and vendors always need banner printing handled so they can place the banners on the backdrop of their booths or drape them from the front of their display tables. Meeting with a print company to discuss their needs provides a valuable resource for the vendors.
The day after the event starts on April 26, The Red Poppy Parade will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am. Local high-school marching bands, Sparklers, princesses, floats, color guards, and other community organizations will participate. Participants and spectators are encouraged to wear red to coordinate with the ‘Paint the Town Red’ theme.
Following the parade will be the classic car show consisting of vehicles from 1993 and earlier. They will be on display in the historic downtown square in Georgetown. The cars will be instructed to follow the parade just until they reach the square at approximately 10:00 am, and will not follow the entire route of the parade.
On April 28, there will be a night concert along with a street dance, in which everyone is encouraged to participate.
