Dallas Stars honor Modano and retire #9

Earlier this month, a fourth number was retired by our Dallas Stars.

Hockey star Mike Modano was honored with his #9 being raised to the rafters of the American Airlines Center to join the three retired numbers already there. Like the other players whose numbers were retired, Modano came to Dallas from the Minnesota North Stars. Unlike the others, however, he spent the lion’s share of his career here in Dallas, including his 1999 Stanley Cup win.

Standing before a sold-out crowd, the emotional Modano told them:

“From the moment I got off the plane in 1993, Dallas felt like home.”

This echoed the sentiment expressed in one of the videos shown where Modano discussed his life in hockey. In it, he said that when people ask him where he is from, his answer is always Dallas.

A highlight of the evening occurred when a curtain dropped to reveal 20 of the 1999 Stanley Cup team outfitted in their jerseys and sporting ‘Modano 9’ patches prior to Modano’s arrival. Among them were familiar names such as Ed Belfour, Derian Hatcher, and Brett Hull.

In addition to the regular printing needs associated with any business, sports teams like the Dallas Stars also rely on print companies to provide them with promotional items, as well as program and banner printing.
