Young Advocates enjoy happy hour on golf course

The 23 members of the Young Advocates group have just taken part in their quarterly round of golf in Allen. The Young Advocates are members of the Children’s Advocacy Center in Collin County, and spend time raising awareness of the organization while fundraising to enable the work to continue.

Over 4,700 children who have suffered some form of abuse are helped by the Children’s Advocacy Center every year. Although a small amount of funding is provided by governmental bodies, most of it comes from sponsors and grants. Donors to the organization have their names entered on a display located on the lobby wall, close to the entrance. A bright mural is also placed in the entrance to make children feel welcome during what can be one of the hardest times of their life.

Kate Goble, the development associate of the center, says that although the organization relies on the donations it also requires volunteers and wants to involve younger members of the community. The Young Advocates spend time every month working on service projects. However, they are rewarded with happy hour at TopGolf in Allen Texas every quarter, where they can have some fun.

The advocates assist at the back-to-school fair each year, helping kids to relax and have fun. The organization will possibly promote upcoming events and the opportunity to become a Young Advocate with the help of local poster printing services. Banner printing may be required during events like the back-to-school fair.
