Scottsdale to see in Christmas with evening of revelry

Scottsdale will host the 13th annual Mazelpalooza this month—an event meant for young people looking for something different this holiday season.
Mazelpalooza (a portmanteau of ‘Mazel Tov’, a traditional Yiddish term meaning good luck, and palooza, an exaggerated event) is a holiday celebration for both Jewish and non-Jewish young people looking for a way to celebrate the holidays in a non-traditional setting. It is a gathering, a party, and place to meet new people. As its name implies, the event offers a tongue-in-cheek evening filled with revelry and above all, laughter and good times.
Planners for the event expect over 700 people to attend this year, which will feature a DJ playing pop songs and lots of dancing. Drinks will also be available at the bar. Rooms at the nearby Hotel Valley Ho hotel will be discounted for the evening as well, but those making reservations must speak the word ‘Mazelpalooza’ to get the discount.
Those attending will want to be sure to bring a camera, as their snaps can be used for postcard printing for sending to friends and relatives afterwards.
Mazelpalooza will be held at Maya Day + Nightclub, 7333 E Indian Plaza, in downtown Scottsdale on Christmas Eve (December 24). Doors will open at 9:00 pm and the cost for the event will depend on when tickets are purchased. They are $35 if purchased before noon on the day or the event, or $40 at the door.
