Phoenix residents invited to golf after dark

The city of Phoenix is still offering golf enthusiasts a chance to enjoy their favorite pastime without subjecting themselves to the heat of the summer sun. In less than two weeks’ time, the Parks and Recreation Department will be opening Palo Verde Golf Course for its August installment of “Night Flight Golf.” Officials may have contacted a printing company to order promotional flyers for this event.

Golfers will play on the facility’s nine-hole course in teams of four. Special glow lights will illuminate the fairways. Participants will also receive glowing balls and necklaces for increased visibility. Attendees will not be allowed to drive golf carts; instead, they will get their exercise by walking along with their equipment as they progress around the property.

The evening will run as a tournament, with each team passing a flashlight to the next upon finishing a round. Regardless of how they perform in the game, all golfers will receive a complementary goody bag. Top contenders will be awarded with prizes.

Palo Verde Golf Course, which is located at 6215 North 15th Avenue, presents exciting challenges for golfers of every experience level. It includes a lake, six par threes, and three par fours.

Night Flight Golf began in April and will continue through October. This month’s game is scheduled for Saturday, August 24 at 7 pm.

Those who are interested in participating will need to pre-register for the event. The cost will be $100 per group. Parties should make their reservations as soon as possible by calling (602) 262-5088.
