Mesa waterpark open for evening fun

A popular waterpark in Mesa is offering its visitors a few extra chances to cool off this month.

Every remaining Saturday evening in August, including tonight, the city’s Sunsplash amusement center will be opening its gates for a special ‘Slide Under the Stars’ event. Staff from the park may have reached out to a print company to order flyers, posters, and other marketing materials for this series of summertime fun.

Families who arrive at the park during its extended hours will enjoy all of the same water-themed attractions that are open during the day, but can expect to have a more carefree time as they leave their sunblock at home and take advantage of more moderate temperatures. Guests will be able to play in the Thunder Bay Wavepool, which features enormous waves, as well as a sand-free beach. They will also have the opportunity to brave a variety of exhilarating rides. These include the Thunder Falls rafting adventure and the Sidewinder slide, which drops visitors five stories before rushing them up a wall.

The park will also be offering its usual activity options for small children. These include the Toddler Tadpole Pool and the Caribbean Water Works play area. Beverages and snacks will be available for purchase as well.

Sunsplash is located at 155 West Hampton Avenue. Visitors can pay $13.88 per person to gain admission into the park from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Those who would like to play in the water between 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm will be able to do so for a slightly larger ticket price.
