Mesa celebrates the Great Arizona Bike Festival
March 28, 2012 by Mark
On Saturday, April 14th, 2012 the “Great arizona Bike Festival” will be held in Mesa, Arizona on Main Street, between Robson Street and Center Street. This festival is all about bikes. The event begins at 8am and runs through until 3pm.
This annual Great Arizona Bike Festival is about the bike, and is based on the annual El Tour de Mesa bike endurance ride. The El Tour de Mesa is a seventy mile bike ride that starts and ends on Center Street in downtown Mesa. This event also features a twenty-eight mile ride for those unable to complete seventy miles, but want a challenge, and a four mile fun ride for younger participants. At this event, attendees will also find a Kid’s Fun Zone featuring an assortment of bounce houses, face painting, games, crafts, a bike safety rodeo, and much more.
The Great Arizona Bicycle Swap Meet will also be present at this event. Here you will find vintage bikes, new bikes, used bikes, parts, and accessories. This portion of the event will run from 6am to 3pm. Besides these features, the festival will also have bike art, food, vendors, games, art, holistic healing, natural fitness, and the Downtown Historic Bicycle Tour, which is a self guided tour with ten stops in Mesa’s historic district. Music for this event will be provided by The Naugahydes, The Detonators, and Outside the Line.
Flyer printing, poster printing or banner printing, from local print companies, may have been used to spread the word about this festival and admission to this event is free to the public. For more information, visit the Downtown Mesa Association’s website or call Cori Garcia at 480-890-2613.
