Gilbert to hold vending expo for local businesses

The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a procurement expo for small business owners interested in becoming preferred vendors for arizona’s state government, schools, and cities in the Phoenix area, and large corporations.

The event will take place on Wednesday, January 30 at the Southeast Regional Library and run between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. Business card printing will likely be on the rise as representatives from local firms prepare to take advantage of this networking opportunity.

Representatives from more than two dozen organizations will be present to answer questions and explain the processes of bidding and being selected to become a vendor. These include the Town of Gilbert, the City of Phoenix, the State of Arizona, Arizona State University’s Polytechnic Campus, and Boeing, among others.

Small, local firms can sometimes face difficulty obtaining vending contracts, losing out to larger enterprises that are headquartered in distant regions. The main goal of the procurement expo is to help Phoenix-area companies increase their chances of doing business with institutions in their own communities. However, the owners of these businesses will also be able to make contact with representatives from several well-known corporations and gain the opportunity to expand their horizons.

Sponsors of the expo include the Employee Benefit Exchange, Humana, and Costco Wholesale. Members of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce may attend for $10, while nonmembers will be charged $20. Prior registration is required. Business owners who would like to register may call (480) 892-0056.
