Gilbert to hold informational meeting about travel to Cuba

February 9, 2013 by

The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Chamber Explorations to offer Phoenix area residents a chance to visit Cuba.

At the end of the month, it will host an informational meeting for up to 50 individuals who are interested in embarking on a nine-day trip to the island nation. The services of brochure printers have likely been in higher demand as the organizers of this adventure get promotional material ready for prospective travelers.

Individuals will have their choice between a June 7 or October 6 departure. Each vacation package costs a total of $4,099 and includes round-trip plane tickets, 16 meals, and seven nights in a double-occupancy room at a first class hotel. Travelers will also receive an entry visa and have access to Cuban health insurance coverage during their stay.

Those who decide to take the trip will go on daily sightseeing tours in and around Havana. Tourists will travel by motor coach and explore local museums and churches, prehistoric caves, an old sugar plantation, and a farm that once belonged to author Ernest Hemingway.

Last fall, more than 50 people from central arizona made the journey to Cuba. As this year’s informational meeting is only open to a limited number of attendees, early registration is encouraged. Those who wish to register may call the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce at (480) 892-0056.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 27, at 6:00 pm in the Chamber of Commerce building at 119 North Gilbert Road, Suite 101. Individuals who attend this session will be under no obligation to go on the actual trip.
