Gilbert set to light up for the holidays

November 19, 2013 by

The Town of Gilbert is preparing for an annual holiday gathering. Early next month, the Nights of Lights event will be taking place outside of the community’s Civic Center. Poster printing is more than likely on the rise as the sponsors of this local tradition work to attract as many attendees as possible.

The evening will offer refreshments and entertainment for the entire family. Vendors will be selling hot chocolate, cookies, and a variety of other treats and snacks. A number of local businesses will be setting up booths and offering special deals and prize giveaways, while several performing groups from the area will be singing and dancing for the crowd.

Attendees will be able to take carriage rides through the park and children will enjoy pony rides, as well as a visit from Santa Claus. They can expect to have their photos taken with the jolly old elf and tell him what they hope to receive for Christmas this year.

Other highlights of the event will include the lighting of the pine trees and lake that form the landscape of the park. The lawn on the premises will also be decorated with snowmen, reindeer, and other classic holiday characters and creatures. Visitors will be able to view this scenery every evening through the beginning of the New Year.

Nights of Lights will take place on Friday, December 6 at 50 East Civic Center Drive. It will begin at 5:30 pm and end at approximately 9:00 pm. Those who would like more information about the event may call (480) 503-6200.
