Engineering grads encouraged to network in Tempe

Graduates of the engineering programs at arizona State University (ASU) are invited to improve their job prospects by attending a special event in Tempe early next month.
The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering will be hosting a networking mixer at a local hotel. Prospective attendees are likely fine-tuning their digital business cards as they prepare to meet with well-connected members of the alumni chapter board and potential new employers.
The mixer will be open to all of ASU’s engineering alumni, including those who graduated in May as part of this year’s class. Some of those who arrive at the meeting will be in the beginning stages of their careers, while others will be seasoned professionals looking for new positions.
Attendees will be able to discuss their options with staff from the university, who can make recommendations to hiring managers at such companies as Honeywell, Raytheon, and SRP. Representatives from several corporations will be on hand as well, although the specific names of these organizations have not yet been announced.
Alumni should come prepared to participate in on-the-spot interviews, as some who have attended this function in the past have received job offers at the conference. The organizers of the event recommend that each alumnus should bring several copies of his or her resume.
The mixer will take place on Thursday, June 6 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel (1333 South Rural Road). It will run from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. There will be no cost to attend and refreshments will be provided.
