National track and field competition coming to Chandler

April 3, 2013 by

Youth from the Chandler area will soon be participating in a nationwide effort to promote physical fitness.

The Hershey’s Track and Field Games, which will also be taking place in a number of other cities across the United States, are set to arrive at Chandler High School this weekend. Banner printing has likely been in higher demand as the school prepares to host this round of athletic competition.

The Track and Field Games are open to children between the ages of seven and 14. Participants will be divided into groups according to age and sex and have a chance to show off their skills in sprinting, relay running, long-jumping, and softball tossing. Those who place well will receive the opportunity to move on to a state-level competition and possibly travel to Hershey, Pennsylvania to compete for a grand prize.

Hershey’s Track and Field Games is a well-established program that has been promoting youth athletic activities for several decades. Hundreds of thousands of children have participated in its competitive events over the years; some of whom have even grown up to become Olympic athletes.

The track meet will take place at Chandler High School’s Austin Field on Saturday, April 6, beginning promptly at 7:30 am. Members of the community are encouraged to attend this event in support of their local youth. The high school is located at 350 North arizona Avenue.
