May 16, 2012 by Sarah
From Thursday, May 17th to Saturday, May 19th, the Chandler Centennial Celebration Weekend is being held in historic downtown Chandler, arizona.
The festivities for this centennial celebration kick off at 4:30 pm tomorrow evening at the City Hall Plaza with the official ceremony. This will include a chance to taste a piece of the winning Centennial birthday cake, a newly created 50-year time capsule with a plaque and dedication ceremony, and a number of special speakers and entertainers. During the evening, the Mayor is to announce the winners of the cake design contest and recognize Chandler’s centenarians.
On Friday, in the downtown core, the “100 Artists Celebrating 100 Years” event will begin at 4:00 pm and run until 10:00 pm. Guests will experience an exciting art walk, local entertainment, and the farmers market, as well as being able to mingle with the dignitaries at a planned reception. A cookbook, celebrating neighborhood history, will also be available.
On Saturday, again from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, families will gather at Tumbleweed Park to enjoy some fun, games, prizes, races, pie-eating, and the biggest backyard birthday party bash around, as well as other events including a display of fireworks that will light the skies above.
The weekend has been planned for a long time, therefore the organizers have probably used a number of stationery printing services to ensure the entire community is made aware of the city’s 100th anniversary. Admission to this family event is free. For additional information, please visit the City of Chandler’s website or call the City Hall.
