Outdoor ballet performance on its way to Casa Grande

A popular dance production is about to return to Casa Grande. Later this month, Ballet arizona will be in town to present its ‘Ballet Under the Stars’ show for the 16th consecutive year. Poster printing is likely on the rise as public relations representatives for the troupe work to attract attendees to this annual event.

The performance will begin just before sunset and will take place on a large outdoor stage. It will include the same elaborate costumes and lighting schemes that characterize the ballet company’s shows at the Phoenix Symphony Hall. Instead of traditional organized seating, those who arrive at this event will find ample room for their own lawn chairs and blankets. This arrangement will allow them to be in closer proximity to the dancers than they would typically be at an indoor venue.

A group of elementary school-aged children will be on hand to perform a piece with members of Ballet Arizona. These students are part of a program called ‘Class Act’ and have worked with the professional dancers to choreograph their own routine for the audience.

The show will take place on Saturday, September 21 at the Paul Mason Sportsplex (2525 North Pinal Avenue). It will begin at 7:00 pm and last approximately one hour. There will be no charge for admission, and families with young children are encouraged to attend.

Ballet Arizona will also be offering Ballet Under the Stars shows in the communities of Sun City, Goodyear, Fountain Hills, Tempe, and Phoenix this September.
