Casa Grande preparing for spring cleaning
April 3, 2013 by Sarah
Casa Grande residents will soon have the opportunity to give back to their community by keeping it beautiful.
In just a few weeks’ time, the city will be sponsoring a citywide cleanup. Flyer printing will likely be in higher demand as the Parks and Recreation Office works to spread the word about the big day.
Throughout the year, individuals, businesses, schools, and church groups in Casa Grande are encouraged to participate in the city’s ‘Adopt-a-Street’ and ‘Adopt-a-Park’ programs. Those who sign up for these projects agree to monitor certain locations in the area and keep them well-maintained and litter-free. This year’s spring cleanup day will serve as a designated time for the members of these groups to gather in the effort. A similar organized cleanup day will take place in the fall.
Participation in the day’s events is not limited to those who have “adopted” streets or parks. Anyone who would like to help is welcome to do so. In addition to removing trash, cleanup tasks may include mowing lawns, spreading new tanbark, and planting new flowers and trees.
The spring cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 20, just in time for Earth Day. It will begin at 8:00 am and end at 11:00 am. The city can provide participants with trash bags and vests. There is only a limited supply of these items, so it is best to call ahead and reserve them. Those who would like to do so should call (520) 421-8677 as soon as possible.
