Barcelona to open academy in Casa Grande

July 3, 2017 by

A Barcelona Soccer Academy, where youngsters are taught to play the sport, will open in Casa Grande.

There are fewer than 10 such academies in the United States, though the organization is continuing to expand throughout the country.

Although all academies train children up to 16 years of age, the Casa Grande location will be different. At this site, the academies (FCBEscolas) are partnering with Grande Sports World (GSW), and will accept students as young as 12 and as old as 19. Extending the age range will enable the organization to span the gap between professional football and the other academies.

To accomplish this, players will live at the academy, and play in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s (USSDA) highest division. The top 70 clubs in the country play at this level. The organization says that this method helps players grow both academically and athletically, which puts them in an excellent position to choose between either playing professionally, or attending the college of their choice on an athletic scholarship.

At present, there are clubs either open or confirmed in Florida, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, Illinois, and California. The organization also has plans to add a team to the National Women’s Soccer League.

Close work with brochure printers can create pamphlets explaining the programs, aims, and requirements for joining an academy like this.
