South Charleston company finds a creative path to jobs

The holiday season is usually the time of year when charity and food drives abound, but one South Charleston company is holding a drive of a different sort during this time of year.

Express Employment Professionals announced on November 3 that it would be running a ‘Pay It Forward Holiday Hiring Campaign’. The goal of the drive is to pair people looking for employment in Putnam and Kanawha counties with jobs. The drive will last until December 15, by which time the staffing agency hopes to place 400 people in positions. Several people had already been placed in jobs by the end of the first day of the drive.

Marketing specialist Amanda Sosebee stated that the company wanted to help as many people as possible find work, even if only temporarily, as the holiday season tends to be a time of need for many.

To help people land jobs, the staffing agency could help people design digital business cards to use when networking, and provide résumé tips. The company encourages local businesses with empty positions to contact it. Typically, the staffing agency helps fill administrative positions such as filing positions, accounting and data entry clerks, administrative assistants, and receptionists. It also provides staffing help to medical and dental offices and warehouses.

Express Employment Professionals is taking the drive a step further; along with providing people with job opportunities, the group is also contributing to charity. Each time the company places a person in a job during the drive, it will donate $10 to the Angel Tree Charity.
