Sights and sounds of summer in South Charleston

Taking place “Around the Mound” in downtown, South Charleston, West Virginia, the South Charleston Summerfest 2012 will take place from Wednesday, August 15 to Sunday, August 19. This event runs Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:45 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:30 pm, and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

This annual event features a different set of performers on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, followed by a Dance Contest. On Wednesday, the performers are Don Gibson and The Velva Tones and the Beatles tribute band Rubber Soul. Acts on the Thursday include Daddy Rabbit Band and Surfs Up, the latter of whom are a Beach Boys tribute. On the Friday, guests can enjoy Insured Sound and Rick K and The Allnighers.

The weekend sees a change of pace, with Saturday seeing a car show, followed by The Esquires, the Starlighters, a dance contest, and fireworks. On Sunday, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the United Way will be presenting the Sunday Scoop. For those interested in participating in the Saturday car show, please call Larry Bailey at 304-550-2426.
Guests are reminded that this is an outdoor festival and to dress appropriately and bring hats and sunscreen. Other activities for the children will be available on the grounds, along with food, vendors, and refreshments.

Poster printing and digital flyer printing may have been used to promote this annual festival to the residents and the surrounding area.
