See the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall
May 12, 2012 by James
From Friday, May 25th until Monday, May 28th, the “Traveling Vietnam Wall” will be at the Oaks Football Field at the South Charleston High School located at 1 Eagle Way in South Charleston, West Virginia.
This traveling wall is a 3/5 scale of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. This wall stands a full six feet high in the center and extends 300 feet in width. This Memorial Wall is a superb reminder of the sacrifices that were made by those involved with the Vietnam War. It was made to rekindle friendships and to help people who had lost loved ones overseas to heal. Guests for this viewing are asked to form a line along Fourth Avenue from the rear of Speedway all the way down the street to Oakes Field. The traveling wall will be making its appearance at 4:00 pm on the 23rd of May. This year the traveling wall will have a 1,000 motorcycle escort from huntington to South Charleston. The trucks carrying the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will exit the interstate and proceed down Fourth Avenue to deliver the wall for viewing as part of the annual Memorial Day weekend celebration. Guests are asked to bring family, friends, veterans, and other community members who may need a lift to the event. Volunteers are also required and anyone who might be interested in donating a little time is asked to call 304-746-5552.
Banner printing and poster printing for this event might be used as part of the promotion campaign for this event. This is a family event and free to everyone. Rain or Shine! For additional information about this event, visit the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall website or call 304-746-5552.
