Chances coming up to enjoy the arts in Memphis

Memphis is home to a wide variety of artisans and crafters who want to show off their original and handmade creations, and there are a couple of opportunities over the next few days for artists to sell and showcase their works.

The Memphis Potters’ Guild 2013 Spring Show and Sale will take place very shortly and will feature local artists. Admission is free and there will be an opening reception on May 31 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. It will take place at the Memphis Botanic Garden and will come to an end this Saturday. For more information, call 901-458-2354.

Also this weekend, the 3rd High Point Art Fair will feature several artisan booths in the popular High Point Terrace area of the city. There will be a wide variety of items for sale, including handmade jewelry and paintings. This one will take place on June 1 on Johnwood Drive. Call 901-327-2868 to find out more.

If these are coming up a little too fast, the 40 Years of Crafts Fair exhibit is featuring 28 works of art from artists who have taken part in the Pink Palace Crafts Fair in the past, and will run until September 29 at the Memphis Pink Palace Museum and Planetarium. It also includes an illustrated history of the Crafts Fair. Admission to the museum is $11.75 for adults, $11.25 for seniors and $6.25 for children.

No doubt Memphis printing companies will be helping the organizers of these events advertise them in the community through products like flyers and posters.
