August 13, 2013 by Mark
The Delta Fair and Music Festival is taking place in nearby Cordova for over 10 days this August and September. This annual event is called ‘Everyone’s Fair’.
There will be plenty of activities taking place at the fair to appeal to everyone in the family, with livestock shows, car shows, concerts, a kids’ area, and a midway among the offerings. Of course, there will be plenty of food to purchase as well.
There will also be contests in such subjects as crafts, cooking, and gardening. Guests can also enjoy watching pig ‘wraslin’ and the demolition derby. Various competition will also be taking place during the Delta Fair including the Delta Fair Queen Pageant, the ‘I am so Beautiful’ Pageant, a dance contest, a baton-twirling competition, and the Star of the Fair.
Concerts taking place during the fair will feature such singers as Olivia Holt, Cold Ford, Joe Diffie, and Vicci Martinez. Songwriters can also attend a master class.
No doubt many visitors from Memphis will make their way to the Delta Fair. Local print companies have likely been providing the organizers of the fair with products such as flyers and posters to advertise throughout the area.
The festival will take place from August 30 to September 8. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for youth and seniors and free for children aged 4 and under. On September 3, which is Food Bank Day, adults will receive half-priced admission with any non-perishable food item. Midway wristbands providing unlimited midway rides are $25.
