Annual marathon raises funds for St. Jude

November 16, 2016 by

The St. Jude Memphis Marathon is returning to the city for the first weekend of next month, raising funds for the St. Jude Heroes and, in turn, the St. Jude Research Hospital.

The event consists of a full marathon, a half-marathon, a 10K, a 5K, and a kids’ marathon. Participants pay a fee to participate and most also collect pledges from friends, coworkers or family.

Fees are $140 for the full marathon, $40 for the Memphis Grizzlies 5K and $15 for the kids’ marathon, but the half marathon and 10K have already sold out this year. Everyone who participates in the runs will receive a finisher’s medal.

Packets can be picked up at the Memphis Marathon Expo on December 1 and 2. In addition, there will be approximately 100 vendors on hand who will be showcasing items related to sports and fitness.

For runners who raise $500 or more, there will be an invitation-only St. Jude Heroes Pasta Party. It will take place at the Memphis Cook Convention Center on December 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Runner bibs and information packages for events like this are often provided by Memphis stationery printers.

The St. Jude Memphis Marathon will take place on December 3 beginning at 8:30 am. To learn more about the races, or about the St. Jude Heroes, call 901-578-1555.
