Annual festival to create music in May

April 6, 2014 by

The Memphis in May International Festival will soon be upon us, and is taking place for three weeks.

The festival is a combination of several events to be held during the month. It will kick off with the three-day Beale Street Music Festival. This year’s event is set to feature a large number of national and international performers, including Kid Rock, Patti Labelle, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Those who plan to attend can purchase a pass for the three days or buy individual tickets for each performance.

Other events will be the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, a performance of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra with fireworks, the 2014 volunteer expo, and a Salute to Panama. Various aspects of Panamanian culture will be showcased over six days of the festival. Part of this will include the ‘Viva Panama’ performance at the Orpheum Theatre, which will feature dance, music, and food sampling.

This is a popular festival that attracts many visitors to Memphis. Printing companies are often asked to help spread the word of events like this by providing services such as flyer, poster, and postcard printing.

Memphis in May will take place from May 2 to 24 in the downtown area. Viva Panama is being held on May 8 beginning at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $18.50. For more information about any of the events, call 901-525-4611.
