Jackson comes in seventh in Top Ten Metro Area poll

Site Selection Magazine has rated Jackson, Tennessee at number seven in its list of the Top 10 Metro Area cities with a population of fewer than 200,000 people.

With first place being claimed by Sioux City, Iowa, this was one of several categories based on population, with other polls carried out for areas with over a million and between 200,000 to one million inhabitants. Houston, Texas was voted the best city with a population of over a million.

The list is compiled based on the number of corporate building projects planned for the area, with Jackson having nine such projects. This includes projects with $1m or more in investments and which will create over 50 jobs or add up 200 square feet of new space.

Jackson is already building up its workforce due to business expansion, and 528 jobs were created in the city last year by existing companies. The city’s ranking on this list can only help to increase the number of new jobs in 2013.

The city can use its placement as incentive for companies to either move to the area or expand their existing facilities within it. This can be done by distributing press releases throughout the state or by designing and creating a flyer to be mailed out to local, state, and national business organizations or chambers of commerce. Jackson printing companies can help in the design of those flyers and can even distribute them directly to local businesses.
