Do your Christmas shopping at the USJ annual Holiday Mart
November 15, 2011 by James
The University School of Jackson (USJ) is holding their 41st annual Holiday Mart from November 18-20 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. This event promises to have the “largest gathering of merchants in West Tennessee.” Admission is $5 in advance and $8 at the door; students pay $2; advance tickets can be picked up at USJ or various BancorpSouth branches in the city.
The Holiday Mart is sponsored by the USJ Mother’s Club and is the largest fundraiser for the school. University School of Jackson is a college preparatory school which educates students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. The school’s main mission is to ensure that their students go onto further education.
Local printing companies in Jackson have most likely provided some advertising copy for this annual event. However, it seems that the Holiday Mart does not need too much help in the advertising department; the mart is a popular yearly event, drawing as many as 10,000 visitors. The over 100 vendors will feature everything from gifts to decorations to baked goods. Vendors come from all over the area to attend the Holiday Mart; some from as far as Florida and Georgia.
Many people are looking for ways to save money this Christmas season, with unemployment being so high and with prices as high as they are, doing your Christmas shopping at the Holiday Mart will guarantee that you will be buying a unique, handmade gift for that special person to treasure that will not break the bank. And, it’s for a great cause.
