Celebrate the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce

February 9, 2012 by

The annual celebration of the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce will take place at the Carl Grant Events Center at Union University on March 22 from 11:30 am-1:30 pm. Tickets are $25.

The event will be a great chance to honor the volunteers who help run many of the Chamber’s programs and seminars. It will also feature the presentation of several business awards; in association with the Jackson Sun newspaper. It will also be the chance to meet and mingle with your fellow Jackson Area Chamber members. Make sure you arrange for extra business card printing so you have enough cards to hand out to everyone you meet. Also write and practice a 60-second “elevator pitch” that describes your business, your products and what you can do for others.

The business awards presented at the event will help you to learn how successful companies operate and will allow you to learn from what are deemed the best teachers. You can also learn their tips for becoming an award winner. According to Business.com, there are several ways in which to win business awards. For starters you should search out awards to enter and should nominate your own business. Next you should pay attention to the associations and organizations in your field; they often hold contests and business awards. Also, large corporations occasionally have contests for small businesses. You should also nominate a customer’s business; by nominating them it helps you to understand “the elements that make a business worth nominating.” When you do nominate your own business you have to make sure you follow the instructions to the tee; a template is suggested as a way not to miss anything.
