Buildings go up and new restaurants go in

Construction of the new Coastal North Town Center shopping center is underway in North Myrtle Beach, bringing 348,000 square feet of retail space and 10 new restaurants.

Coastal North is one of the biggest retail centers built here recently, and some of the new restaurants will be the only location in the area.

The shopping center sits on the old Robbers Roost Golf Course, and has an anticipated opening sometime late in 2014. Among the restaurants scheduled to go into the new center are Red Lobster, McAlister’s Deli, Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits, and Panera Bread. This location will be the only Panera in the area.

Mike Mahaney, City Manager of North Myrtle Beach, noted that although some of the restaurants have other locations in what is called the ‘Grand Strand’, a virtually uninterrupted stretch of more than 60 miles of beaches running down the South Carolina coast, they are new to the center. He also said that some of the stores launching include Hobby Lobby and Publix Super Market, which are new to the area.

Since there are still parcels available for lease, the center’s developers could work with brochure printing companies to create a mailer for commercial realtors, describing the center and its amenities and why their clients should think about opening a location there.
