Southern First expands to Mt. Pleasant

January 15, 2014 by

Southern First Bank, with locations in Lexington, Greenville, and Charleston, recently announced that will be opening a branch in Mt. Pleasant, with construction to begin soon. Most likely, the bank is turning to a variety of printing services to let potential customers know of this new opportunity for doing their banking.

According to President Justin Strickland, building permits were recently issued to the bank, which will be 3,600 square feet in size. The branch is expected to be open in August.

Strickland said that it was important for the bank to have a location in Mt. Pleasant, even though it is not looking for any additional sites in the town at the present time.

Strickland added that Len Howell, who is the regional executive in the market of Charleston and has over 30 years of banking experience, will be the one who will be hiring five new people for the branch in Mt. Pleasant.

According to its web site, the bank was established in 1999 by its holding company, Southern First Bancshares Inc., with headquarters in Greenville. When it expanded into the Columbia Market in 2007, it established its presence in the state of South Carolina and then expanded into the Charleston market in 2012. It now has three branches in Columbia and four in Greenville.

Southern First Bancshares Inc. has a mission to provide a style of banking uniquely designed to grow its client base. It focuses on customer friendliness and special service to its shareholders.
