Hobby Lobby to open store in Mt. Pleasant

May 5, 2012 by

Hobby Lobby, a national retailer of arts and crafts supplies, recently announced the building of a new store in the Six Mile Marketplace in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

The new store, which will be located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and Six Mile Road, will be approximately 55,000 square feet in size and is planned to be completed by the end of the 2012. As its 12th location in South Carolina, the new store is the first of the company’s along the coast. The Midlands and Upstate South Carolina serve as the primary locations for its other 11 stores. The company is no doubt using poster printing and flyer printing to make customers aware of the new store and of the 35 to 50 jobs that it will create in the area.

Hobby Lobby’s main competition in the Mt. Pleasant area is the Michaels Stores, an arts and crafts with stores nationwide. Michaels Stores has an outlet on Highway 17 south of the planned Hobby Lobby store in the Wando Crossing Shopping Center.

According to assistant vice president of advertising for Hobby Lobby, John Schumacher, the company, based in Oklahoma City, plans to further expand in South Carolina and is looking forward to being part of a new neighborhood and sharing in the expansion of the area. In addition, he said that customer can anticipate receiving an exceptional selection of products in the market of home décor and crafts, and an enriched shopping experience highlighted by excellent customer service and value.
