Grand opening held for gourmet food retailer

On Thursday, September 5, Southern Seasons held a grand opening ceremony of its new gourmet foods retail establishment in Mt. Pleasant. Mayor Billy Swails attended as part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony. No doubt the retailer is using business card printing to distribute material throughout the community so that residents can become aware of its many offerings.

The new facility is 44,000 square feet in size and is the home for a restaurant that, as of last Friday, served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as more than 70,000 gourmet food items. This will include ingredients and items from across South Carolina and the world, various gadgets and equipment for cooking, 300 craft beers, and 3,000 different wines. Truffles made in-house and gourmet chocolates will be available in addition to 200 varieties of coffee and tea.

According to Brian Fauver, President of Southern Seasons, this is not a retail food establishment where one does the weekly shopping as there are no staples sold, such as eggs and milk. The retailer is designed for the sale of specialty ingredients and kitchen tools.

To celebrate the opening of the store, Southern Seasons will be hosting specials during the week until Thursday, September 19. Some of these include getting a free mini-scone with the purchase of a large coffee on Mondays, and getting a free gift wrap with any purchase on Wednesdays.

Sunday, September 22, will be the culmination of the grand opening celebrations with a Lowcountry boil to benefit Share the Food.
