TaskRabbit coming to the Triangle

Another app to help people with their daily lives is on the way to the Raleigh area.

TaskRabbit is an app that allows people to ask for help with chores, whether that means putting together a shelf unit or carrying boxes upstairs. TaskRabbit is already up and running in metropolitan areas such as New York City, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.

Stacy Brown-Philpot, CEO of TaskRabbit, said her company decided to start operations in the area because visitors to the company’s website asked if their services were available around Raleigh. Going by the number of inquiries, Brown-Philpot decided there was enough potential business to launch in the Triangle.

People offering their services via TaskRabbit are called ‘taskers’, but Brown-Philpot will not say how many there are available in the area, only that the number is far above the minimum the company looks for when it opens in a new location. In the Raleigh and Triangle area, the most enthusiastic potential customers appear to be millennials, who are moving to the Triangle for work, since companies like Credit Suisse are increasing the number of people they employ.

Brown-Philpot says there are many people who would like to have small tasks performed for them, and on the other side, many people looking for part-time work, which balances out perfectly.

Companies like this can benefit by working with brochure printers, which can create a brochure describing the services available, and blanket the region with the information via a targeted mailing.
