Share the Pie underway now
October 17, 2016 by Lisa
Raleigh residents who want pie for Thanksgiving can start placing their orders now, since the Share the Pie fundraiser recently started. The money raised goes to the StepUp Ministry and the Alliance Medical Ministry.
Catering companies, restaurants, and bakers from the area are donating over 1,000 pies to the effort. Pie makers include Carroll’s Kitchen, Golden Corral, Hayes Barton Café, 18 Seaboard, Angus Barn, and the 42nd Street Oyster Bar.
The pies are $26 each and are available in sweet potato, pumpkin, pecan, and chocolate. Although the buyers are able to choose the flavor they want, they will not know who the baker was until they receive the pie.
Buyers will be able to pick up their pies between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm on November 23, at several area locations. These include Blondell Properties at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, the Glenwood Agency in Glenwood South, and in downtown Raleigh at Citrix headquarters. One additional location is still to be announced, but it will be in North Raleigh.
Organizers need volunteers on November 19 to help label and deliver pie boxes. They will also need help on November 21 to pick up the pies, and then again on the following day to deliver them.
Events like these can benefit when organizers work with postcard printing companies, who can create postcards about campaigns like these for area residents.
