Hunter & Associates, LLC, a commercial real estate firm based in Raleigh, has been acquired by Avison Young, according to a recent announcement by Avison Young’s CEO and Chair, Mark E. Rose. The acquisition will increase Avison’s presence in North Carolina.

Banks Hunter founded Hunter & Associates in 1989. Hunter provides a full range of commercial services to its clients, including brokerage services, property management, and retail leasing. As of the date of the acquisition, Hunter will be rebranded as Avison Young. In addition, 11 members will join the Avison team and Banks Hunter will become an Avison principal.

With this acquisition, Avison will add an additional 1.7 million square feet of office and retail properties currently being managed by Hunter to its portfolio. It also adds another 3.5 million square feet of office and retail lease listings.

Banks Hunter founded his company to give property owners a single resource to handle brokerage, management, and leasing services. The company grew to become the biggest retail brokerage firm in the area. It focuses on managing and/or leasing properties of all sizes, concentrating on centers with grocery stores as their anchors.

Avison Young’s Earl Webb says adding the Hunter team to Avison will enable it to expand in an area it considers underserved by the industry.
