Holiday ride makes room and gives thanks

For anyone who finds it something of a fly in the ointment that their enjoyment of overeating during Thanksgiving is tinged with the knowledge that some of our fellow Durham residents are not experiencing their own good fortune, the ‘Making Room for Turkey Ride’ should fix all of that.
This makes the 5th year for the Making Room for Turkey Ride and this year’s event, which benefits the National MS Society and the Raleigh Rescue Mission, will take place on November 21 – Thanksgiving Day itself.
The location is a brand new one; it will start and finish at the Sheraton Imperial Center’s Office Complex. Loads of parking is available. Two courses are available: a 25-mile route and 50-mile route. Sign in for the 25-mile ride is at 8:30 am with the ride commencing at 9:30 am. The 50-mile ride signs in at 9:30 am and rolls out a half an hour later.
The cost of participation is $30 if registering prior to November 18, after which it increases to $40. Those riders who donate four non-perishable food items will be entered in a raffle with prizes of $50 gift certificates from a number of sponsoring businesses. Many companies find that, in addition to the positive advertisement they receive at the time of an event such as this one, they can spread those benefits throughout the year. They do this by including their participation in with the information supplied to their stationery printers for their business card printing orders.
