The 24th annual President James K. Polk Birthday Celebration is taking place next month.

James K. Polk, the 11th President of the United States, was born in Pineville and his birthplace is now a historic site that attracts thousands of visitors from all over the country each year. This year’s birthday celebration is concentrating on the 1844 election and visitors will have the opportunity to place their ballots in this historic event. Guides dressed in historic costume will be on hand to help show how life was lived during this time. In addition, President Polk will be making an appearance.

The day will be filled with children’s traditional games and crafts, cooking displays of historic recipes, and even a musket-firing demonstration. Everyone in attendance will also receive a birthday treat. Tours of the historic site will also be available during the day.

While they are enjoying this celebration, guests can also visit the newly-opened exhibition ‘Vote: The History of Voting in North Carolina’.

Pineville printing companies are often asked to help provide advertising materials such as flyers to spread the word about these types of events.

The James K. Polk birthday celebration will be held at the James K. Polk Historic Site on November 5 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The cost of admission is $5 per vehicle. Call 704-889-7145 for more details.
