Merlo establishes presence in Pineville

Merlo, an Italian telehandler, announced at the Lift and Access Showcase in Orlando last week that it has appointed its first distributor in the United States – Applied Machinery Sales located in Pineville, North Carolina – to handle the East Central territory of the country.
The company has experience with telehandlers, having already imported compact models with plans to import Roto 360 models. Merlo is no doubt using flyer printing and poster printing to find and appoint additional dealers that will be able to distribute its products in other parts of the country.
Merlo is well known in Canada but has, until now, shied away from the United States market due to limitations in production capacity and differentials in products. More recently, due to a sluggish economy in Europe and greater demand from local buyers, the company decided it needed to make the investment in the United States market. Charleston will serve as the initial point through which it will ship its products for the United States.
Applied Machinery Sales currently is also a distributor for Ormig Lift and Carry Cranes, also from Italy, and Kegiom Mini-Crawler Cranes. These are mobile cranes that are used for moving loads for indoor and outdoor industrial applications. The Ormig Cranes are able to lift between 5.5 and 60 tons and do not need additional outriggers to lift the full capacity of the crane for which it is rated. The Kegiom Mini-Crawler Carnes are designed to fit in small and confined spaces and can lift from 3,300 pounds to 11,000 pounds to as high as 52 feet.
