Development in Fort Mill means new stores and eateries

Sites at the corner of Confederate and Main streets in Fort Mill, South Carolina, are being redeveloped, thanks to a potential purchase by a real estate company.

The sites total 8,000 square feet of retail space, and have been split into six parcels by owner of the sites, Downtown Partners. According to Michael Chase of Kanawha Properties, the property manager, three of those parcels are currently under contract.

In recent years, other retail establishments and restaurants, along with businesses and apartments within walking distance, have been added along Main Street.

Planned for a fall opening is Nikelspot Comics just off Main Street by Nik Frank. Nikelspot Comics will be across from Hardees, next to Subway.

Pineville is Frank’s hometown and his interest in comics began after he developed a relationship with Dave Hinson, owner of Dave’s Comics in Fort Mill, one of the properties which is being sold.

Frank started a comics collection based in his home and then a year ago started working out of a warehouse in Fort Mill. He said for the past three years he has been working from his home, mainly using the internet for his business of higher-grade comics.

Now that he will have a brick-and-mortar store, Frank might benefit from the use of flyers and printed material to promote his store and his unique collection of comics.
